Bone Graft In Laval

An essential intervention to restore the jaw to its normal bone volume
With age, bone volume in the jaw (thickness and width) tends to decrease. Other factors such as periodontal disease, smoking or the loss of one or more teeth may accentuate this phenomenon. Indeed, when a natural tooth is lost, the jawbone is no longer stimulated by the presence of the dental root and tends to be gradually absorbed, which leads to a decrease in bone volume.
Thus, bone grafting is necessary for patients who wish to have one or more dental implants to replace their teeth, but whose bone volume is not sufficient to support the implant properly.

Step 1

We perform local anesthesia of the grafting site. We make an incision to prepare the site and then fix the bone graft.

Step 2

The graft is covered with a synthetic membrane to isolate and hold it in place while stimulating bone growth.

Step 3

We offer post operative advice and can prescribe medication in order to prevent infections and reduce edema or pain.

Bone Graft

How do I know if I will need a bone graft?

If you want to get one or more dental implants, only a dentist can determine if the bone graft treatment applies to your situation. To do this, we perform a rigorous oral exam in which we evaluate the condition of your oral health and the quality/bone volume in your jaw at the planned site of implantation.

We first examine your teeth and gums because we must take into consideration the presence of any particular problem or condition in order to plan the bone graft. Then, we take a few X-rays in order to evaluate in a more precise way the quality, the thickness and the depth of the bone.
