What is a facet?
The facet can be compared to a fake nail or a contact lens. It is a thin shell made of ceramic or composite that is applied to the visible part of the tooth to cover it. Its primary function is to embellish damaged, discolored, or poorly positioned teeth. In addition, it also considerably improves the resistance to oral acids.
How are they made?
First, the dentist takes a digital impression of the teeth to be covered. In the laboratory, the technicians then manufacture the facets according to the precise model of the digital impression. During the next appointment, the facets are cemented to the teeth so that they remain securely in place. Usually, facets remain in place for more than ten years without fading. Please note that this whole process is done without anesthesia.
Is it possible to see how will I look with facets?
Thanks to a transformation software called Lumismile, it’s possible for you to see the virtual result of your smile with facets. The software takes a previous photo of you (smiling) and transforms it in order to give you a glimpse of how you will look with facets. This technology allows you to see the result for free before you have started any dental procedure. However, it should be noted that this photo does not guarantee an exact final result.
Facets
Remember that facets are effective in improving the appearance of the smile. Thus, they are used by our dentists to correct several types of imperfections, including:
– Improve the color of teeth
– Correct the alignment of the teeth
– Modify the shape of the teeth
– Close spaces between the teeth
Facets are the simplest and fastest way to harmonize the look of your smile.
