Why ?
Gingival recession is a progressive loss of the gums that can occur on one or more teeth. In the early days, many consider this loss to be an aesthetic problem, but in the longer term, gum recession can lead to dentinal tenderness, pain and even, in some cases, loss of teeth.
For who ?
There are no restrictive conditions for allografting. Anyone suffering from gingival recession caused by periodontal diseases or bad brushing habits can benefit from this type of transplant. In this type of intervention, there is no possible rejection, since the allodermal graft is acellularized and sterilized.
How ?
The transplant is done in a sterile room to offer the best success rate. As for the process, a simple local anesthesia is necessary, as in the case of a filling. The graft is inserted under the natural gum so that it is reinforced. The result is durable and aesthetic to the point where it becomes almost imperceptible after healing.
Gum Graft
The purpose of the gum graft is to restore the height and thickness of the gingiva so that it can cover the root of the tooth that was exposed while preventing it from loosening more. This is a minor surgery that aims to protect your oral health from potential problems. Please note that in some cases, when gum loss is still moderate, tissue regeneration may be possible. This is a preventive technique that consists of moving the remaining solid tissue and repositioning it close to the tooth by strengthening it with a stimulant injected under your gum, which will allow the formation of the tissue attachment. This option is more effective in the long term, and above all, less painful.
