Peri Implantitis In Laval

Peri implantitis is an inflammation affecting the tissues around the implants that usually leads to an infection. We offer treatment for struggling old implants at our clinic since it is important to resolve the problem before the infection causes the loss of bone support.

Peri Implantitis

An implant loses bone faster than a natural tooth when affected by peri implantitis. Indeed, unlike an implant, the natural tooth is provided with several gingival and periodontal fibers that attach to it perpendicularly. The gingival and periodontal fibres around an implant are less solid and therefore less efficient in protecting the bone from bacterial and parasitic attacks.
Please note that peri implantitis treatment is possible when you are in stage 1 and 2. At those stages, we proceed with a disinfection and a debridement of your implants. Thereafter, close monitoring will be done to ensure that you keep your implants as long as possible.

However, for stage 3 and 4 cases, when the implants do not have enough bone to support the implants, we need to extract them and install new ones.
